This symposium will review current and emerging treatment strategies for small cell lung cancer (SCLC), with a focus on therapeutic decision-making across the disease continuum.Faculty will discuss current standards of care, including the role of immunotherapy-based first-line treatment, evolving treatment continuation and maintenance approaches, and persistent unmet needs in SCLC. The program will also examine evidence supporting current second-line treatment options, including patient selection and treatment sequencing following prior immunotherapy exposure, as well as clinical considerations that influence management in routine practice. In addition, the symposium will review emerging therapeutic approaches under clinical investigation, including DLL3-directed therapies, bispecific antibodies, antibody-drug conjugates, and other novel immunotherapy-based and targeted strategies. Faculty will discuss the available clinical evidence and the potential role of these approaches in first-line and recurrent disease settings. Through expert presentations and case-based discussion, attendees will explore the application of current and emerging evidence to treatment planning, toxicity management, and individualized care for patients with newly diagnosed and recurrent SCLC.
Upon successful completion of this activity, learners should be able to:

  • Describe current standards of care for patients with SCLC, including evidence-based approaches for first-line therapy and evolving perspectives on maintenance treatment.
  • Evaluate the role of standard-of-care second-line therapies in SCLC and apply best practices for patient selection, sequencing, and clinical management.
  • Discuss emerging therapeutic approaches in SCLC, including novel immunotherapies, targeted agents, and innovative mechanisms such as DLL3-directed therapies.
  • Integrate knowledge of first-line maintenance strategies and emerging agents into practical treatment planning for patients with newly diagnosed or recurrent SCLC.
This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of researchers and healthcare professionals who diagnose and treat patients with lung cancer including medical oncologists, thoracic surgeons, radiation oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, advanced practice nurses and physician associates.
